Hybrid International Symposium – June 5, 2025
This symposium investigates ways of “healing” in the face of the dire consequences of climate change. While we understand the effect of the Anthropocene as a planetary crisis, raising concerns about human existence and the future habitability of the planet, we seek to go beyond notion of devastation and damaged. Instead, we focus on practices that arise as response to such crises, seeking to heal disturbed, disrupted or otherwise harmed human-environment relations. Applying healing as a novel lens, we contend that putting Indigenous and local perspectives at the centre of scholarly inquiries has the potential to generate innovative responses to climate change and to foster social transformation all at once. With this symposium, we start the Reinhart Koselleck-Project on Planetary Healing: Transformation, (De)colonization and Climate Change conducted by the planetary healing group at LMU Munich.
